How to make a bootable usb for linux on ubuntu (make linux liveusb)
I am sure you must have heard about linux live cd? Yes, with the live cd you can run an OS without installing them, we just need to insert a linux live cd and then restart the computer and change the boot priority to cd rom. The problem is the storage media form a CD can be easily damaged, with the consideration that the usb flashdisk is a viable alternative to serve as the media or trying to install the Linux OS.
Lots of ways to make a bootable USB flashdisk and many tutorials scattered on blogs or websites, but this time I will show you how to easily create a bootable usb flashdisk using Unetbootin. To make a bootable usb flashdisk as we need to download the Unetbootinapplication for linux. Please download the application at http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/.
We also need to download packages p7zip-full to run this application, download p7zip-full through the synaptic package manager.
Add permission access executable on the file Unetbootin we downloaded earlier.
Right Click → Properties → select the permissions tab and check allow executing as a program or type chmod +x linux-555-UNetbootin on terminal.
Before opening the application Unetbootin better stick usb flashfirst, after flasdisk stuck, then double click the Unetbootin willappear like this.
Checklist on the disk image and select the iso.Then browse theiso file that we want to make a live usb. Determine where we will copy the file, usb flash disc.
When everything fits, click ok and wait for the process is complete. Once the process is complete restart the computer and change the boot priorities in the usb. Live usb very useful for netbook users like me, because netbooks do not have a dvd rom. Although external dvd has been sold but are still too expensive for me to overcome them and I use the usb as bootable media.i hope this article useful to you.
