EXCESS LINUX MINT (ACCORDING TO MY PERSONAL)
Linux Mint is an operating system based on ubuntu, until recently the latest version of linux mint is version 11 with the codename Katya. Please visit www.linuxmint.com for more info. My first time using linux mint in 2010, when I was using linux mint 10 with the code name julia. Why I chose from on ubuntu linux mint linux mint is because there are a few advantages over ubuntu, below are some advantages linux mint.
- Multi-media codecs include to linux mint in the package installation, in contrast with ubuntu that does not include multi-media codecs to the installation package, so after you finish installing linux mint can play multi-media files such as music and video without the need to download multi-media codecs again.
- Menu display using gnomenu, display is equipped with a beautiful menu search menu and favorite applications we often use.
- Java runtime that is included in installation package, we can run applications without downloading the java runtime java again.
- Compiz is already integrated with linux mint. Who does not know about compiz? With compiz desktop cube we can create and beautify the look of our desktop.
- live usb. Can be run via usb, not just linux mint, but almost all linux distributions can walk through the live usb.
- More light, in my opinion after I replace ubuntu with linux mint, I feel lighter netbooks used.
Some things are just a few advantages over Linux Mint in my opinion, of course, if there is definitely no shortage of advantages.
