THE WIDESPREAD USE OF PIRATED OS IN POOR COUNTRIES

It is true that pirated OS is too widely used in poor countries. This is due to the high price of the original OS that can not be reached by the poor. In addition, there are several more factors that support the widespread use of pirated OS in poor countries. These factors are:

1. There is lack of knowledge about the existence of the free OS (open source) which has the same function as the paid OS. The lack of the knowledge is because people know only one OS and they do not know the other OSs.
2. The pirated OS has already been circulated and spread everywhere and it has easily been obtained.
3. People do not realize that using pirated OS is a violation of copyright. Most of them do not realize this because there is none who reminds them, for example by saying "it is better for you to use the open source OS instead of pirated OS. It violates copyright law. You can be jailed if you use the pirated OS.
4. Most computer users are ‘end users’ who have already felt the ease of using Graphical User Interface which is beautiful from the paid OS and they find it difficult to study the Command Line with Open Source, even though the current open source OS also has beautiful view.

What I mentioned above is probably only a few factors that cause the widespread use of pirated OS. There may also be personal reasons that make them choose to use pirated OS. I myself use the Open Source OS, the linux mint. Why do I choose to use Linux Mint which is a product of Open Source and free? My reason is very simple. The paid OS is still too expensive for me. So, I just want to remind that using the free OS is better than using the paid but pirated OS. The paid OS indeed offers various facilities that may not be offered by the free OS / software. We know that the paid OS is still too expensive for us, but it is not a reason to use a pirated OS. So, whether we want to use the paid OS or the free OS is up to us. It depends on our favor. My advice is that if you use the paid OS/software, it is better for you to use original and official OS / software in order that we do not harm the original vendors of OS / software.
