Twitter Facebook Digg Delicious Lintas Berita
Alternative image editor on Linux, we all know of the wonders of photoshop in windows. what about linux? in linux there is an open source application for image manipulation. That is the GIMP.
Gimp is the software, raster graphics editor. used as image retouching and editing tools, In addition to the free-form images, the GIMP image can meet the fundamental interests such as size, editing and cropping photos, combine several photos., and convert different image formats. GIMP can also be used to create basic animated images in GIF format. Currently, the GIMP can be used for amateur or professional job with the design for the monitor and print on ink-jet printers.
Vision products for the GIMP is a high-end graphics applications for editing and creation of original images, icons, graphical elements of web pages and art for user interface elements. One point in the product vision that will see the GIMP GIMP is used for the development of advanced image-processing algorithms ...

History
GIMP originally stood for Image Manipulation Program GIMP's, Spencer Kimball and Peter Mattis., Beginning GIMP developed in 1995 as a semester-long project at the University of California, Berkeley. The first public release of the GIMP (0.54) was made in January 1996, In 1997 the GIMP to be part of the GNU project, and stands for GIMP was changed to the GNU Image Manipulation Program .. Currently, GIMP is managed and improved by a group of volunteers under the auspices of the GNOME Project.

GIMP was originally created for UNIX, Linux, SGI IRIX, and HP-UX is supported at first release. Since the first release GIMP quickly adopted and emerging community of users who created the tutorial, works of art and engineering together. Since its initial release, GIMP has been ported to many operating systems including Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X; port win32 native to the platform started by Finnish programmer Lillqvist Tor (TML) in 1997 and supported in the GIMP 1.1 release.

GIMP is using three graphical user interface (GUI) toolkit from the beginning; GIMP motif originally used on the first public release (0.54). At some point Peter Mattis became disillusioned with the motifs and developed its own GUI toolkit called the GIMP toolkit (GTK); GTK has been successfully replaced Motifs in the 0.60 release of the GIMP, GTK Finally rewritten into objects. oriented and renamed GTK +, was first seen in the GIMP 0.99.

Features
Feature that has almost the same GIMP photoshop commercial version, although not to compete with Photoshop, GIMP 2.6 has been reviewed twice by Ars Technica. In the first review, Ryan Paul noted that the GIMP provides "capabilities such as Photoshop and offers an extensive set of features that has made it popular with amateur designers and fans of open source, but the state GIMP developers are not aiming to emulate Photoshop.

variant
Several variations and derived current graphics applications, these applications can exist because of GIMP is released under the GNU General Public License, the GPL specifically allows everyone to take the source code and use it whenever they want, provided they follow the rules put in a license. GIMP is available on many popular operating systems, even so, there are several variants of the GIMP for OS-specific modifications.
Site GIMP only offers download the source code, executable version of GIMP that provided by other sources.
* GIMP Online is an online web browser version for GIMP and GTK +, where GIMP is in cloud computing environments. This allows non-technical users to start the GIMP on demand without having to download and install to the hard drive.
* GIMP Visual Studio (GIMPVS) is an instance of GIMP and GTK + which is compiled using the Microsoft compiler. GIMPVS aims to provide stable GIMP for designers using Microsoft Windows and allows developers to program with GTK + and GIMP using Microsoft Visual Studio.
* Sea is a program derived from the original GIMP runs on Mac OS X. This program is currently in beta and includes part of the tools and features of GIMP.
* GIMP distribution GIMP.app is built for Mac OS X. GIMP. App has all the features of the GIMP's default distribution. GIMP.app have a second version using the X11 and the original version to the Mac, but the latter is considered experimental.
* OSX beta-gimp provides original building dr old version (2.2.14) version of GIMP on Mac OS X using the GTK + is built for Quartz. This is mostly functional, but limited support for Quartz back end-of GTK +. This is only available for PPC Macs.
* CinePaint, the previous "Film Gimp", is a fork GIMP version 1.0.4, which is used for retouching frame-by-frame film. This version supports up to 32-bit color depth IEEE floating-point per channel. CinePaint supports color management and HDR. CinePaint is used primarily in the film industry mainly due to its support for high image format.
* GIMP Portable GIMP is a portable version that can be installed on USB drives such as brushes and presets the same from one computer to the next. Portable GIMP is only portable between different computers running Microsoft Windows (XP or later).
* GIMP Animation Package (GAP) is an advanced plug-ins for the GIMP to create animations, it expands the ability of the GIMP's normal. GAP is able to save animations in GIF format, and some, including AVI. The function relies on the ability of layering animation from GIMP. By creating a separate layer and each is treated as animation cells, then place and rotate the image layer in terms of time, generated animation effects. In this way, an animated GIF or video file that is encrypted can be produced. GAP has a function that further in the transition layers of different programmed and time and available lines of this step allows for the manufacture of sophisticated animation.
* GIMP Paint Studio (GPS) is a collection of presets for GIMP brushes and tools intended for artists and graphic designers. This is intended to speed up repetitive tasks, a faster work flow is achieved by storing the preset tool between uses.
* GIMP GIMPshop is a derivative of which reset the user interface to mimic Adobe Photoshop. This is achieved by modifying the user interface and menu items. GIMPshop is released on Microsoft Windows.
* GimPhoto have similar goals with GIMPshop, but have been made using a newer version of GIMP, GimPhoto previously targeted towards photographers who use Adobe Photoshop ..
* GIMP instrumented created at the University of Waterloo to track and report user interactions with the program, thus they are able to generate statistics about how GIMP is used.
* Classical GIMP is a patch against 2.6.8 source code of GIMP that has been made to undo the changes made to the GIMP user interface between 2.4 and 2.6 versions. A build of GIMP is available from classical to launchpad.net.
